Customer support test and repair technician

Job description


This position will be 90% “in house” based activities - occasional travel to be expected.

We are looking for someone with knowledge in electronics, mechanics and automation systems. Strong work ethic, teamwork and pro-active attitude. A period of training will be held at Laselec Inc with occasional visit to local customers where the technician will receive basic knowledge on the equipment. After that period the technician will be in charge of repairing Laselec equipment modules and maintaining test equipment’s to proper operating level and assist manager to improve processes and workflow.


Essential duties & responsabilities


1 – Repair and testing duties

Ensure RMA process is respected: pre-shipment, ensure that customer properly package good, track shipment, assist administrative department in shipping to customer (packaging, shipping information…).

Troubleshoot and repair laser marker / laser stripping sub module to component.

Issue quotation if needed.

Close paperwork, and provide feedback to corporate.

Ensure proper level of customer support parts level.


2 – Other duties

Assist in preparation of wire sample from sales requests.

Help prepare field service with technician.

Occasionally help process paperwork for field service technician.

Support continuous improvement activities.


3 – Occasional field activities

Assist technician on installation and repair upon needs and type of project.

Support local customer (basic request, consumables, drop off/pick up equipment).


Job requirements



Technical degree in electronics, knowledge in mechanics and automation is a plus.

knowledge in Microsoft office suite (Excel, word, outlook).


Work experience

Beginner accepted. Preferred 2+ years experiences.



Can read electrical schematics.

Basic troubleshoot skills at electronics modules level. Requires to know how to use of oscilloscope and multimeter and multimeter.

Good communication skills in order to assess situation over the phone with customer and provide accurate reporting.
