Global but local

Komax is a globally active Swiss company with production facilities in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. It provides local sales and service support in more than 60 countries through subsidiaries and independent representatives. This provides Komax with a unique global presence and allows it to efficiently and competently serve its local and global customers at all times, thus ensuring the availability and value of their investments after equipment commissioning through standardized service processes. Proximity to its customers as well as short reaction and delivery times play a decisive role in its success, which explains why Komax has been consistently applying the motto “global but local” for years.

Over 40 years of experience

Since 1975, Komax has grown from a 3-man business to a group with more than 30 companies and over 1,800 employees. Back in 1981, the company’s founder Max Koch initiated the expansion abroad with the founding of Komax USA, and has continued to pursue this expansion ever since. Komax has established itself as a market and technology leader in recent decades thanks to its continuous development of innovative, novel solutions for automated wire processing. As a result of several acquisitions in recent years, Komax has entered the market with four additional brands: Kabatec, Laselec, Thonauer and TSK.

Kabatec is a leading technology company headquartered in Burghaun (Germany) that specializes in taping, spot taping and fixing of holding parts to wire harnesses. Founded in 2008, its core expertise involves the development and production of semi and fully automatic machines for processing adhesive and non-adhesive tapes.

Kabatec is a global market leader in the field of taping technology systems. It mainly serves customers in the automotive supply industry, offering them both series production machines and customized systems for efficient, cost-effective taping and spot taping of different wire types. Kabatec solutions are consistently aimed at meeting the requirements of today’s wire harnesses. Specifically: protection against heat and mechanical abrasion from vibrations, as well as resistance to chemicals such as gasoline, diesel, oil, coolants and detergents. What’s more, the tapes used for taping and spot taping can also be used for noise reduction (anti-rattle protection).

Kabatec employs around 70 people and has been part of Komax since July 2016. The two companies had enjoyed a strategic partnership for several years prior to that.

TSK has decades of experience in quality assurance in wire assembly. The company was founded in 1983 by Helmut Kahl as Test Systeme Kahl, or TSK for short. To ensure short delivery times of the test adapters to its customer, TSK carries out manufacturing at its headquarters in Porta Westfalica (Germany) as well as in Turkey, the USA, Brazil, China and Tunisia. TSK also has various service locations on individual continents, putting it closer to its customers.
